Arc Pro B60 Dual 48GB: Will It Work With Your Motherboard? Bifurcation Explained

The single most common question we get about the Arc Pro B60 Dual 48GB, and the number one thing that goes wrong for DIY buyers: will both GPUs actually show up in my system? Here is the honest, complete answer.

Why this card is different

The B60 Dual is two complete B60 GPUs on one board. To keep the price where it is, Maxsun did not add a PCIe switch chip to the card. Instead, the card asks your motherboard to split its x16 slot into two x8 links, one for each GPU die. That splitting is called PCIe bifurcation (x8/x8).

If your board supports it: both dies appear, you have 48GB, everything works. If it does not: only one die appears and you have effectively bought a 24GB card for 48GB money. Nothing is broken, but nothing will fix it either. This is a motherboard capability, not a driver or software setting.

How to check your board, in order

1. Look in your BIOS/UEFI. Search the PCIe or advanced settings for an option named something like "PCIe Bifurcation", "PCIE x16 Slot Configuration", or a choice of "x16 / x8x8 / x4x4x4x4" on the primary slot. If you can set the main slot to x8/x8, you are good.

2. Check the manual or vendor spec page. Search your exact board model plus "bifurcation". Board vendors list this per model, and it can differ between BIOS versions on the same board.

3. Rules of thumb, honestly stated. Workstation and server platforms (Xeon, Threadripper class) almost always bifurcate. Consumer boards vary by vendor and model, even within the same chipset, so we will not print a compatibility list here that goes stale and burns you. Check your exact model, or use step 4.

4. Or just ask us. Email alex@destellotech.com with your exact motherboard model before you order and we will tell you straight whether it qualifies, including "no, do not buy this card for that board" if that is the truth. We would rather lose a sale than ship you half a card.

If your board does not bifurcate

Three real options: the single-die Arc Pro B60 24GB and Arc Pro B70 32GB work in any standard x16 slot, no bifurcation involved. Or we can build you a complete machine on a platform we have already validated for the Dual, tested with both dies visible and a model running before it ships. Email us for that.
